Welcome to my beer blog. phirx is my pen name, which I use for professional purposes. If we meet at the pub I will tell you about it. I am not employed in the beer industry. I started writing this blog to practice writing itself, and to learn about how to set up the website and stake out a place on the internet. Writing about beer – and the beer scene in Nashville where I live – is a natural choice and gives me a focus to practice.

I’ve been drinking beer since the mid-1980s, brewing it at home since the mid-1990s, and I’ve lived in Nashville since 2003. In my formative years I lived in many parts of the United States (both coasts and points in between) and travelled in Canada and Europe – I developed a broad palate. I am a male resident of music city: employed, married with children, and a tax-paying member of the community. This blog is an excuse to vent or praise – and an opportunity for me to learn. Thanks for reading.

  1. Well, this is my first reply to a blog so I can share in your “newness” as I discover more about home-brewing and, of course, beer in Nashville! Looks like fun!

  2. Hi Phirx. I’m glad you dig my article about Kim Logan, the modern Southern Rock singer songwriter. You have a great blog as well, adding to my excitement as I learn so many new and cool things about Nashville. Keep up the great work!
